TC-Thermocouple
When it comes to monitoring temperature in different contexts, temperature sensors and probes are indispensable tools. 2H-Term offers a wide range of solutions, based on two main types of sensing elements: Temperature Probes with RTD-Thermoresistance and Temperature Probes with TC-Thermocouple. The choice of sensing element depends on the specific application and various factors such as the temperature range, the required precision, vibrations or thermal shocks.
TC-Thermocouple sensors are elements that vary their voltage (mV) depending on the temperature difference between the hot junction, the measurement junction, and the cold junction, where it is connected to the instrument for reading. This phenomenon, called the Seebeck effect, is achieved by splicing 2 different materials together (Hot Junction) and reading the measurement in mV at its terminals (Cold Junction). The measurement in mV at the terminals is given by the temperature difference between the 2 joints. Therefore, to know the temperature of the hot junction, the temperature of the cold junction must also be detected. Thermocouples, generating a potential difference (mV), have a polarity which is identified with different cable colors depending on the reference standard.
There are different reference standards depending on the elements used to create the thermocouple and the reference market. (EN-DIN-ANSI…). The connection cable must guarantee the continuity of the elements used to create the sensor and limit the choice during the wiring phase.
The most used reference standards are: EN 60584-1 – ASTM230E – DIN 43710
The DIN43710 Standard is no longer valid but remains as an indication for spare parts.
In the 2H-Term product families, the codes identified by the letter xxT are products with a thermocouple sensitive element.
Main features
- Speed Reading
- Range
- Robustness and anti-vibration
TC-Thermocouple sensors are ideal for applications that require a very wide temperature range, ranging from -200°C to +1800°C. These sensors are appreciated for their reading speed and robustness and resistance to vibrations, being able to withstand the most extreme conditions. The connection to the reading instruments occurs via specific cables based on the type of thermocouple used.
The TC-Thermocouple Temperature Probes can be supplied with Temperature Transmitters with 4-20mA, 0-10V output, or with digital buses depending on the connection needs present in the system. These options offer superior performance for sensor reading and configuration, enabling precise and reliable monitoring.
In the case of thermocouple connections, they also allow you to use standard cables (signal or digital) without having to use specific compensated cables.
